About the Role:

The Data Centre Technician role is responsible for installing and maintaining network and optical equipment along with ensuring customer services are optimized by coordinating the day-to-day management of fiber patching. This role will also be responsible for the upkeep of asset and configuration management databases in relation to these activities.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and performing ongoing maintenance on fiber optic and network equipment
  • Logging and maintaining asset and configuration management information relating to Data Centre networking equipment.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and function as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Work and contribute as part of a high-performance team.
  • Provide expert data centre connectivity advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Function as a Subject Matter Expert and provide guidance.
  • Maintain and update network topology information as required
  • Monitoring and management of configurational tools (Paessler PRTG, Observium).
  • Hands on management of layer 1 and 2 connectivity of inter and intra Data Centre components
  • Building and maintaining relationships with carriers and vendors.
  • Participate as part of a virtual team, working independently and across multiple regions.
  • Mentor and impart knowledge to other members of the team.
  • Act in an ambassadorial capacity for the company.
  • Attend and contribute to appropriate team and stakeholder meetings and committees as required and relevant to ensure excellent stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Embrace and model CDC’s DNA.
  • Function as part of a team that occasionally requires work to be completed outside of normal business hours.
  • Other duties as required to ensure overall team success.

About You:

  • Strong documentation and compliance skills
  • Optical Networking (ADVA, Cisco)
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working within Data Centres
  • Experience and specialist skills in the configuration and maintenance of networking/communications infrastructure, including the ability to support a variety of technologies.

Essential:

Australian citizenship and ability to obtain an NV1 Security Clearance
